Swansea lies at the far end of the M4 and is an important city for trade because of its port. The Swansea docks are located immediately south east of the city centre. In the mid-19th century the port was exporting 60% of the world's copper from factories situated in the Tawe valley. Times have changed but the port is undergoing re-development into a new urban area branded the SA1 Swansea Waterfront.

Considerable amounts of dry bulk, steel, minerals and wood is shipped through the port. There is 160,000sq ft of warehousing down at the port and outside the city are a wide range of warehousing options catering for all sorts of logistics requirements. There are a number of 3PLs, and specialists in food and drink for chilled storage. There is a site for hazardous materials, as well as several for medical (MHRA) along the M4 towards Cardiff.
