Manchester airport is the third busiest passanger airport in the UK. For freight it is the fifth busiest in the UK behind Heathrow, East Midlands, Stansted and Gatwick.
Manchester Airport has a World Freight Terminal, serving cargo-only freighter services and cargo carried on regular passenger flights. There is 5,500,000 sq ft (510,000 m2) of warehouse and office space on site, including a chilled unit for frozen products and a border inspection post.
The airport is a 20-minute drive from Manchester city centre along the M56 motorway. There are warehouses along the minor local roads serving the airport from the north (Wythenshawe) and the east (Heald Green). The M56/A538 road junction serves the World Freight Terminal, to the west of the airport. The A538 runs east-west serving the local towns of Altrincham and Wilmslow, and further afield there is the M60 ringroad where Stowga have a huge amount of warehouses available. Lots are run by logistics and transport companies and there is every possible type of storage solution available in Manchester, particulalrly around the Trafford Park area as well as in the nearby towns of Stockport, Ashton-under-Lyne, Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton and Bury.
